The Ma’agan Mikhael Shipwreck, excavated by Prof. D. Cvikel, was recently featured on Reuters!
The shipwreck, dated to the 7th or 8th century CE, is evidence that trade persisted with the rest of the Mediterranean world despite the religious divide in the land of Israel at the time. The ship was around 25 m (82 feet) long, and laden with cargo from all over the Mediterranean.
