Dr. Galia Pasternak

Dr. Galia Pasternak is an expert in marine pollution, especially marine debris. Since her PhD research at the University of Haifa, Galia is focusing on marine litter (currently, conducts a research on the sources of debris on the Israeli shores for the Ministry of Environmental Protection), in order to find ways to prevent the problem, and she is part of an UN Scientific Advisory Committee. Galia works to increase public awareness to the fragility of the marine environment and the role of over-consumption in its deterioration, through conducting clean-up operations and lectures and courses to the general public and with The Israeli Diving Federation. In these days, Galia, and leads a team of ecologists to study the impact of tar pollution on the rocky surface of Israeli shores.
