Dr. Lee Perry-Gal

Dr. Lee Perry-Gal is a research associate of the Leon Recanati Institute for Maritime Studies, as well as a research associate at the Zinnman Institute of Archaeology, and head of the zooarchaeology branch at the Israel Antiquities Authority.
Lee is a zooarchaeologist, focusing on the eastern Mediterranean during the classical and late antiquity periods. Her main research interests pertain to the economy, cultural complexity, and human-environment interaction of ancient cultures, through the study of animal remains.
She received her PhD in zooarchaeology from the Department of Archaeology at the University of Haifa, and her MA (summa cum laude) in archaeology from Tel Aviv University.
