Udi Arkin Shalev is a Research Associate of the Leon Recanati Institute for Maritime Studies, a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Maritime Civilizations, University of Haifa, and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ono Academic College.

Udi’s research combines extensive underwater fieldwork with the digital humanities, and a deep understanding and appreciation of the sea. His focus is on
identifying and understanding harbor architecture, shipwrecked cargos and
maritime trade routes in coastal and deeper waters.

Udi earned his BA (cum laude) in Economics from the Open University of Israel. His MA and Ph.D. are from the Department of Maritime Civilizations at the University of Haifa.
