Excavations north of the Phoenician Iron Age artificial harbor and later Crusader fort began in 2023, led by Dr. Shirly Ben Dor Evian and Dr. Shlomit Bechar. 

During the first season of excavations at the site, an Iron Age structure was unearthed on the beach. The aims of this excavation is to expand our knowledge of the Phoenician settlement and shed new light on its past.
