Dr. Oz Goffman

Appointment period: 1/5/2024 – 30/4/2027

Dr. Oz Goffman is a research fellow and  manager of the dolphin project IMMRAC – Israel Marine Mammal Research and Assistance Center – in the Recanati Institute for Maritime Studies at the University of Haifa. He is highly experienced in underwater professional scuba diving (1984) and free diving, including the operation of research equipment and video-recording and stills photographing of cetaceans. He is also experienced in behavioral analysis and data processing work on cetaceans (1993).

Dr. Goffman’s research is the first long-term analysis of underwater video recording solitary dolphin-human interactions in the Red Sea. His research on the Cetacean population is conducted both in the Mediterranean and Red- Sea.

Dr. Goffman is employed as the Manager of Fishery Economy in the Department of Fisheries, State of Israel since 2001, and he has also been a Leading Partner with the Research team – Bulgarian EEZ Black Sea Dolphin Research Program (2014-2015).
