Dr. Yoav Me-Bar was born in Jerusalem. He received his Master’s degree in the Hebrew University in Physics, Mathematics and Meteorology and his PhD from the Technion in Materials Science. He had worked in RAFAEL for 31 years on Ballistics research and then 14 more years as a consultant to RAFAEL and other institutes on similar subjects. He had also worked in the Technion, Haifa, as a volunteer in the Impact Laboratory of the National Building Research Institute.
Dr. Me-Bar spent 20 summer seasons of Maya archaeology in Belize, as an affiliate of the University of Texas, Austin and CATS – the Center for Archaeology and Tropical Studies of UT Austin, 2 seasons in Equador doing Inca Fortresses archaeology and 5 seasons in Portugal, doing Roman Villas archaeology.
He was “enlisted” to the Marine Civilizations Department by the late Prof. Yak Kahanov, while still a consultant to RAFAEL.
